Initially briefed as a simple clean up to the interior of the 1970’s building, the Hawthorn project quickly evolved. Inspired by Christopher Elliott’s vision, an extensive renovation was undertaken to address the lack of continuity and problem areas resulting from previous renovations. The garage-to-games room conversion lacked natural light and obstructive structural beams severely limited the space. This was overcome by reorientating the room to capture the available light and gorgeous vista onto the much loved garden. Feature joinery was also installed to conceal structural beams and house media equipment. Testament to the success of this design, the room has become a hub in which the family interact, play and entertain.
